Day 7 - Google Analytics And TDC Stat Tracker

Today we’re going to start tracking our stats!

One of the great things about online businesses is there’s no guessing…you can track and analyze everything you put online. We can measure the traffic by testing before we actually release a product.

Day 7 is approximately ~24 minutes

How To Setup Google Analytics

(video length ~6 minutes)

Today we’re setting up tracking…tracking the number of people coming to your site and your click through rate to your product.

  1. Go to http://analytics.google.com
  2. Sign up for Google Analytics if you haven’t already done so

Add a new website or create your first website.

When Google Analytics produces the code to add to your website copy the code to a text file and extract your unique tracker code. It’s the piece of data that starts with UA- with a bunch of numbers after.

  1. Now take that piece of code and go to your WordPress Direct control panel.
  2. Click website settings
  3. Scroll down to the “Google Analytics ID”
  4. Enter your code
  5. Click “Save Website Settings”

Go back to Google Analytics and click “Finish”. Google Analytics will show that your code is not installed. Click the “Check Status” link and click “Finish” again and it should show “Tracking Installed”. I’ve had some issues with this in the past, in general everything usually works smoothly after you wait about 24 hours.

How To Track Affiliate Links

(video length ~7 minutes)

Using the Thirty Day Challenge stat tracking tool. This will help us monitor and see how many clickthroughs we get to our affiliate program. This will help to show how many people come to our website and then out of those people how many click through to our affiliate.

  1. Go to your Thirty Day Challenge dashboard and scroll down a little ways
  2. On the right side you’ll see a link for “TDC Stats Tracker”. Click that link
  3. Just click the New Link button, fill out the form with the link you want to track, and TDC Stats Tracker will create a new link that you will use for your affiliate tracking.

Add Tracked Links On To Your Blog

(video length ~9 minutes)

How to add your TDC Track link to your WordPress Direct blog.

  1. Go get your TDC stats tracker link from the Thirty Day Challenge website…copy the URL
  2. Go to your WordPress Direct account and go to the Ads and Banners Setup
  3. Open the Advertisement we worked on the other day. Change the old affiliate link and use the new one created by TDC Stats Tracker.
  4. After you’ve changed your links in your ad click “Save Sales Offer”.

You can also add the link to your blog article. Don’t convert more than two of your key phrases in your article. Guru Bob created links for the first keyword phrase and the last keyword phrase in the Vintage Electric Guitar arcile.

That’s it! Try testing it by going to your blog and click the link. Next go to the TDC Stats Tracker and make sure the Count has incremented by 1.

Day 7 was short and is not in the books. Time to make the updates to my Thirty Day Challenge.
