Day 4 – Test The Market With An Affiliate

Now that we have some great keyword phrases we need to test the market to see if the market spends money. We can do this by finding a product or service that we can sell through and affiliate program.

We’re also going to learn how to write some content to promote the product and how we can edit images to make our content more appealing.

We don’t care about making money at this point we just want to find out whether people are going to buy in our market.

Finding An Internet Affiliate Program

(video length ~9 minutes)

We’re looking for stuff to sell to test and see if people will buy in our niche. The Thirty Day Challenge is not an affiliate sales program we use it test to find out if the market spends money.

How to find an affiliate:

  • Type your keyword plus the word affiliate into google
  • Try ClickBank – you need to create an account
  • Try Amazon associates.

The goal is to come up with a couple affiliate products to sell ten move on to the next video.

Writing Your First Copy

(video length ~6 minutes)

We’re using an affiliate product from Amazon.com.  Go through the product descriptions and reviews to find some copy.  The description and reviews may not be the best, but you can find some good nuggets of content.  Take the content you find and go ahead and spruce it up and turn it into better copy.

We are only looking for 30 – 50 words of content so keep it short.  Just short snippets.

Some key phrases to help you with your copy:

  • Uncover the real value…
  • Literally save you thousands of dollars…
  • Skyrocket your profits…
  • Discover the value…
  • Must have…
  • Inside scoop…

For your project create a new document inside a folder called mydocuments/projects/vintage_guitars. In that folder save a picture of that document.

Creating An Affiliate Link For An Amazon Product

It’s easy to do…make sure you have an Amazon Associates account.

  1. Login to Amazon Associates
  2. Click the Build Link/Widgets in the left navbar.
  3. Click on the Product Links from the list.
  4. Search for your product and click search.
  5. Click Get HTML.
  6. Click on the text only link radio button.
  7. Highlight the code then paste into a document or to your article post

Manipulating Images With Picnik

(video length ~7 minutes)

Picnik is a completely free service and quick and easy way to manipulate an image.  If you don’t already have an account the create a simple account

Follow up from Ed’s previous two videos.  Here’s your step by step:

  1. Go to http://www.picnik.com
  2. Login and Click the Photos tab on the top
  3. Click the Get Photos button and upload your image by locating it on your local drive.
  4. After your image is uploaded click the resize option from the horizontal menu bar.
  5. Change the size to 150 pixels across.  Make sure the “Keep Proportions” check box is ticked.
  6. Next click the save and share button.  Use the defaults.
  7. Save the file to your PC.

That’s it for resizing with Picnik!

Steps To Take Today

  • Get signed up with your affiliate program and find an affiliate product or service to sell for testing purposes
  • Write your first bit of copy for that product. 30-50 words
  • Create your affiliate link using amazon or whatever affiliate program you signed up with.
  • Resize your image to have a horizontal width of 150 pixels using Picnik.
