Day 2 – Market Samurai And Keyword Research
- 0 Comments
I’m already behind a couple days…here’s Day 2.
I was a little bit surprised to see training videos on Day 2 of the Thirty Day Challenge. In last years Thirty Day Challenge the weekend was a time to catch up and recoup from the weeks videos. The good news is that means we are getting much more value content from the Thirty Day Challenge crew. The bad news is it looks like we’re going to be working much harder this year during the month of August.
Day 2 is approximate 61 minutes worth of videos…
Unleash The Samurai…
(video length ~5 minutes)
Thirty Day Challenge members get a free 40 day trial of the commercial version of Market Samurai. That’s great now we get to see what all the talk has been about this little app! This video is simple and basically goes over downloading and installing Market Samurai.
In order for you to get the free 40 day trial version you need to use the following link: http://www.marketsamurai.com/thirtydc/. If you don’t have time for this video all you really need to do is click the link and download the software by entering your name and email address under the 40 day free trial offer. That’s it! That’s all you have to do to complete the tasks from this video.
I also went through the Market Samurai tutorial videos at http://www.noblesamurai.com/support/tutorials. You need to sign up for the free SEO Digger account if you don’t already have one.
Market And Keyword Research An Introduction
(video length ~15 minutes)
This video covers basic marketing and keyword research.
What is a market? – A segment of the population with a common need or desire. That have the wherewithal to buy. Motivated to buy.
What is a niche? – A segment of a market.
Broad Match Search – search without quotes
Phrase Match Search – search with quotes
Definition of keyword phrase match by the TDC team:
1,000,000+ – Market
100,000 – 1,000,000 – Mega-Niche
30,000 – 100,000 – Niche
<30,000 – Micro-Niche
Our goal is to find micro-niche keyword meaning that we want to enter a phrase match search that has less than 30,000 competing webpages.
Webpage competition is only one major criteria for the TDC. The second major piece is TRAFFIC. The traffic portion requires (loosely) that we hopefully can get 80-100 searches per day.
We will use Market Samurai to find the Webpage competition and traffic for the Thirty Day Challenge.
I went through the tutorials on the Noble Samurai website. They were not necessary most of the information is covered in the TDC videos.
Question: Why can Market Samurai get you banned from Google? I’ve heard a couple times that Market Samurai can get you banned from Google. My assumption is that it must make many searches in a short period of time that Google flags…if your IP Address is making too many of these searches they must put a temporary ban on you in attempts to keep you from flooding their servers.
Question Answered: Your getting too much traffic data too quickly from Google can get you banned.
Market Samurai Case Study
(video length ~27 minutes)
http://www.noblesamurai.com/support – for support on the Market Samurai. It’s not a TDC product so don’t go to TDC for support.
When using Market Samurai you can start with a high level keyword to find niches within that market. The keyword research feature of the Market Samurai will always be free.
SEOT (SEO Traffic) - on the keyword analysis is the projected amount of traffic the number 1 position will receive for this keyword. It’s roughly 41% of the total traffic returned. We want to use a minimum of 80 traffic searches in the number 1 spot.
SEOC (SEO Competition) - This is the number of competing webpages for your keyword. We used a number of 50,000 to filter on, but he real goal is to have the SEOC<30,000
Using Market Samurai is not completely intuitive. Here are the basics:
- Open Market Samurai and either start a new project or open an existing project.
- We’re only using the Keyword Research tool right now so either click on the button in the left navbar or in the main content area.
- Use the default settings and click the Generate Keywords button.
- After you get your keywords click on the Analyze Keywords button.
- Click the little + symbol next to the SEOT filter and type in the number 80 then click analyze keywords.
- Next Check mark the Adwords box (this will highlight all the adwords options), SEOC, and OCI. Next to SEOC click the + and type the number 50,000. Click Analyze Keywords
- Rinse and repeat to analyze all your keywords.
How To Do Keyword Research Without The Samurai
(video length ~11 minutes)
This video shows you how to do keyword research manually without having to do it with Market Samurai. Keyword research begins with the Google AdWords: Keyword Tool: here’s the address: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.
- Go to the Google AdWords: Keyword Tool
- Enter your keyword and look through the list to find a keyword phrase that matches our search criteria (minimum of 2400 searches per month or 80 searches a month).
- Enter your Phrase Match Search (the one in quotes) into Google.
Question: Did we want to have 80 searches a month overall or 80 clicks for the top search? I think the video on Market Samurai and keyword research were conflicting a bit. To err on the safe side it would probably be better to get 80 clicks for the top search.
Learn The Way Of The Samurai…
(video length ~3 minutes)
Talks about the Market Samurai video tutorials. I went through the Configure and How To Use tutorials and you really don’t need to go through the tutorials. The only thing I added was an SEO Digger account which we haven’t used for the TDC yet.
Steps To Take Today
- Take all your ideas/phrases and take them through either the steps in Market Samurai video or use the manual keyword research method.
